Become a Special Agent
A career at the Bureau is a commitment to the highest standard of federal service. Candidacy proceeds through eligibility review, background investigation, field orientation, and oath of office.
Five phases to Special Agent
- Phase 01
Begin Application
Applicant submits their online application.
- Phase 02
Background Investigation
Department history and background are reviewed. If approved, applicants receive a Discord message from Bureau leadership.
- Phase 03
Panel Interview
Applicants proceed to a Panel Interview after successfully completing the background investigation. Applicants choosing the FBI Cadet Ride-Along Program complete that program before their Panel Interview.
- Phase 04
Field Orientation
Applicants completing the Panel Interview will complete one real-life day riding with Special Agents to learn Bureau operations.
- Phase 05
Oath of Office
Applicants take the Oath of Office and receive their badge and official appointment.
